As we reach the final stretch, I can genuinely state that I enjoyed this course. I can recall myself registering for this course, not knowing what it would entail. Although Dr. Zamora had provided insight into the course, I was a tad bit lost, but I took a chance with it, and it has been exceptional. This course has allowed me to reflect on what I and others have encountered during the pandemic rather than through the motions. The pandemic is not going anywhere for some time, but as restrictions begin to lift, we must think of the life that is in store post-pandemic. A slew of individuals will still feel the effect that COVID-19 has brought on, and with that, we must begin reforming and building a community.
With that being said, it would be only right for our last major grade to incorporate an assignment that allows students to think ahead. What will life be like after the pandemic? Will the education system attempt to revert to a sense of normalcy, or will they continue with virtual learning? There has been a slew of technological changes in the classrooms, whether in person or virtual, due to the pandemic. I have thought of the numerous encounters I have had with being surveilled as a student or the information that I am able to acquire due to my current profession. I am not entirely sure what my five hundred word microfiction will consist of as yet. I typically struggle with creative writing and thinking outside of the box. This assignment will truly challenge me, but I am up for it.
When discussing with my peers in our last class session, I brought up the idea of incorporating the use of tracking devices. On-campus in each residence hall, students must swipe in. On my end, I can go in and see when each student last entered the residence hall. I can also incorporate the use of deactivating and reactivating ID cards. Perhaps the wrong user got a hold of this login information and negatively used the system. I am not entirely set on my idea, but I do have a few ideas based on my current job!
